Bailey, William H. "Bill" PRINCETON
— William H. (Bill) Bailey, age 85, of 110 Vintage Oak Way, Princeton,
W.Va., passed away on Monday, November 24, 2008.Born on February 17, 1923 in
Ashland, he was a son of the late Henry A. and Esther Chappell Bailey. He
had been a resident of Princeton for 15 years and formerly lived in
Cincinnati, Ohio. He was a member of the Montcalm United Methodist Church.
He was a 1941 graduate of McComas High School, attended the University of
Cincinnati and the University of Connecticut. Bill was a veteran of World
War II and served in the US Army during World War II in the European
Theater. He was a member of the VFW and the Schwab/Bailey American Legion
Post in Cincinnati. He rose from the ranks of serving a debit to become the
president of the Inter-Ocean Insurance Company and later Cincinnati Finance,
retiring in 1988 with over 40 years of service. In addition to his parents,
he was preceded in death by his son, Derwin M. Bailey who was killed in
action in the Vietnam War. Bill was also preceded in death by his brother,
Everett Bailey; and sisters, Nora Royal, Sadie Dixon, Ruby Bailey, Mabel
Conley, and Mildred Bircham. Survivors include: Spouse: Atwith J. Barlow
Bailey of the home; one son: Larry E. Bailey of Cincinnati, Ohio; one
daughter: Deborah Scoggins of Cincinnati, Ohio; grandsons: Justin Fink and
Christopher Scoggins; brother: Leonard Bailey and wife June of Bluefield;
sister: Ernestine Hedrick and husband Marshall of Princeton; several nieces
and nephews.Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, November 26,
2008 at 7:00 p.m. at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with
the Rev. David Ratcliff, pastor of the Montcalm United Methodist Church,
officiating. Friends may call on Wednesday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the
funeral home.Entombment will follow on Saturday at the Spring Grove
Mausoleum in Cincinnati, Ohio. Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell is
