MONTCALM — James Marvin Rogers, age 74, of P.O. Box 493 (McComas), Montcalm, died on Tuesday, January 1, 2008 at his residence.
Born on September 19, 1933 in McComas, he was a son of the late John O. and Virginia Belle Gills Rogers. He had been a lifelong resident of McComas and was of the Pentecostal Holiness faith. He was a retired coal miner, was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and served during the Korean conflict.
Survivors include: Four sisters: Juanita Rogers of McComas, Mildred Purdy of Sneedville, Tenn., Hazel Rogers of McComas, Elsie Pergeau of Hazel Park, Mich.; one brother: Larmer Rogers of McComas; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, January 5, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with the Rev. Patrick Wheeler officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell where James Ball, Johnnie Tooley, Mark Coburn, Mike Coburn, John Coburn, and Mickey Taylor serving as pallbearers.
Friends may call one hour before services, from 12:00 noon - 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell is serving the Rogers family.
