Margaret L. Burgess

ARLINGTON, Va. - Margaret L. Burgess, 85, of Arlington and formerly of Montcalm, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2005 in Arlington.

Born on April 5, 1920 in West Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Charles C. Bird Sr. and Viola Rose Scott Bird.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Garner W. Burgess and a son, Charles R. Burgess.


Mrs. Burgess was a loving mother to her children: Daughters, Beryl J. Wolfe of Arlington, Va. and Deborah G. Poff of Ironton, Ohio; son, Donald E. Burgess of Annandale, Va.; sisters, Geraldine Citta of Omaha, Neb. and Juanita Meyers of Jacksonville, N.C.; brothers, Charles C. Bird Jr. of Wilmington, N.C., Jim Bird of Swansboro, N.C., Roger Bird of Mercer, Pa.; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 12, 2005 at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with the Rev. D. Homer Stewart officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens on the Courthouse Road in Princeton.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, Sept. 12, 2005 from 9-11 a.m.
