Dennie C. Davidson, 92, of Flint, formerly of Montcalm, died on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2004 in a Flint nursing home. Born on June 23, 1911, in McComas, he was a son of the late James and Ora Webb Davidson. He attended the Montcalm Pentecostal Holiness Church. He formerly worked for General Motors and was a retired coal miner, having worked for Poca Fuel. He was a member of the UMWA and the UAW. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Osie Bell Perkins Davidson; a son, Clarence Davidson; stepmother, Trulie Davidson; mother and father-in-law, Ben and Annie Perkins; brothers, Curtis, Oakley, Lester, and Dallas Davidson; and sisters, Eunice, Vada, Lena, Maggie, and Vicie. Survivors include: Daughters: Drusilla Myers and husband Dr. Walter S. Myers of Mechanicsville, Va., L. Renee Varner and husband Michael of Swartz Creek, Mich.; five grandchildren: Jewel Myers of New York City, N.Y., Darrell Sheridan and wife Spring Myers of Mechanicsville, Rebecca Dawson and husband Todd of Flint, Michael Varner Jr. and wife Kali of Swartz Creek, Joy Myers of Mechanicsville; nine great-grandchildren: Angel, Melanie, Justin, Abigail, Ian, Camilla, Caden, Allie, and Brandon; brothers: Clifford Davidson of Princeton, Raymond Davidson of South Bend, Ind.; sisters: Effie Hawks of Ohio, Ada Harris of Charlottesville, Va., Hattie Lacy of Bluefield, Louise Davis of Princeton; many nieces and nephews; lifelong friend: Hazel Rogers. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Dr. Walter S. Myers officiating. Entombment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Friends may call today from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell is serving the Davidson family.
