SOPHIA
— Kathleen Cole, 86, of Sophia, passed away Sunday, January 18, 2009 at
the Bowers Hospice House with cancer. Born October 12, 1922, in Wyoming
County, she was the daughter of the late Jesse Bryan and Carrie Lee
Burton. She was of the Methodist faith.She was preceded in death by her
husband, Richard O. Cole, and her oldest daughter, Mary Frances “Twinkle”
Burgess; three brothers, Clarence Burton, William Burton and Robert
Jackson Burton; and, one sister, Betty McDorman Moore. Ms. Cole had worked
for the Carolina Supermarkets for twenty years. She was a lifetime member
of the Sophia City Fire Department and was an avid bowler winning many
awards and trophies. She was a past Worthy Matron of the Rock Chapter of
the Eastern Star. She was a former postmistress at McComas, W.Va. Those
left to cherish her memories are her two daughters Linda Sue Britton and
husband, Jeff of Beckley and Judy Dodd and husband Olen of Crab Orchard,
Zane Burgess, son-in-law, sisters Ann Bowyer of Keysville, Virginia, Mary
Alice Johnson of South Point, Ohio and Vivian Pugh of Pineville, North
Carolina, four grandsons, Michael Livingston, Mathew Dirk Livingston,
Christopher Livingston, and Richard Libicer, granddaughters Stephanie
Berger and Renee Libicer, great-granddaughters, Emily Livingston, Brooke
Livingston, Baylee Libicer and Anna Fox and great-grandsons, Cole
Livingston, Austin Livingston, Alec Libicer, Cole Libicer, Tony Ellis,
Zane Berger and many nieces and nephews. Services will be 1 p.m., Saturday
at Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley with Pastor Grayson Lilly
officiating. She will be laid to rest at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in
Princeton., W. Va. beside her beloved husband, Richard. Friends may gather
with the family one hour prior to the service .In lieu of flowers,
donations may be made to the Bowers Hospice House, 454 Cranberry Drive,
Beckley, WV 25801.Online condolences may be sent to our guest book at
