BLUEFIELD — Mark Allan Phillips, 46, of Route 2, Box 396, Bluefield, went to be with the Lord in the early morning hours of Sunday, June 10, 2007 after a short stay in the Bluefield Regional Hospital.
Born on Oct. 7, 1960 in Ashland, he was a son of the late Clair Phillips and Margaret Bailey Phillips Saddler. He spent his first four years of life in an Ashland Company Coal Camp located in Moniter Hollow, McDowell County. At age five Mark moved with his family to Windmill Gap Mountain, Mercer County. Mark received his primary education in the Prosperty School and Montcalm Schools. In early adulthood Mark had a special relationship with Susie Boling, a son was born to the couple in 1985.
Mark lived his last years of life with his Mother, Lou the Dachshund and Smoky the cat. Mark was a peaceful man and was loved dearly by his family, pets and close friends.
Mark is proceeded in death by a brother, Clair (Nathan) Phillips (1974); father, Clair Phillips (1994); a grandniece, Kayli Phillips (1995); and his stepfather, Elmer Saddler (1997).
Mark will be deeply missed by his family he left behind, including, son: Nathan Boling of Poca; two grandsons; mother: Margaret Saddler of Bluefield; brother: Tim and Peggy Phillips of Germanton, N.C.; sister: Naomi and Charlie Lagasse of Stanchfield, Minn.; nieces: Saoncyrae and Joshua Neville of Minneapolis, Minn., Sharla Lagasse of Stanchfield, Minn., Rhoda and William Melton of Germanton, N.C., Michelle and William Whitaker of Roanoke, Va.; nephews: Drake Lagasse of Minneapolis, Minn., Travis Lagasse of Duluth, Minn., Chris Phillips of Germanton, N.C., Paul and Ammie Phillips of Pocahontas, Va.; great nieces: Kiersten Phillips and Siearra Phillips; great nephews: William Melton, Joe Melton, and Nathan Phillips.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, June 14, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluefield with Captain Jerry Lester officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton.
Friends may call on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
